Atom™ System Overview

Atom™ provides a full set of ICAO-compatible functions for Air Traffic Control (ATC), Air Traffic Management (ATM) and for the operational and business side of air traffic for Civil Aviation and Airport Authorities.

Atom™ provides powerful real-time interfaces among its own components and also to existing legacy systems. It uses an advanced system architecture to provide a highly reliable and available system. All the ATC workstations share data in a multi-client, multi-server network, so that every workstation is its own client/server, with the difference that all data is shared across the network. This provides significant operational advantages.

Fully Integrated:

Atom™'s CNS/ATM systems shares its Air Traffic Management flight information with other Atom™ components (or existing legacy systems) for flight-related operational and business purposes, such as

  • National overflight billing and reporting requirements.

  • Airport operations including gate management, passenger arrival/departure screens and landing/parking billing and reporting.

  • NOTAM generation, reception and lookup.

  • Flow control and airspace planning and modeling software.

This data sharing minimizes errors and delays caused by copying and duplicating information. It shares CNS/ATM data as:

  • Local: Workstations share data via LAN.

  • National/International: Via AFTN messages.

Modularity: Buy only what you need and when you need it

  • Atom™'s components are available according to your schedule. You can build the system you want, when you want it. This approach provides for smooth growth, rapid installation and a well-defined training path.

  • For example, your may wish to install Atom™'s basic flight data management component with an AFTN interface, strip printing, data display, and airspace usage billing. Surveillance and flight following may be added later.

  • Each component "plugs right in". There is little interruption in service and costs are known up front.

Smooth Transition:

  • The system provides an 'off-the-shelf' solution ready to work immediately after it has been installed.

  • Our professional staff provides assists you with transition, installation, testing, training, support and maintenance.

Little Risk:

  • Our contract terms are simple, straightforward and virtually risk-free. We charge a fee to install each system. After the one-year warranty a quarterly support and maintenance service fee is charged. Customer may recover this fee via previously "lost" billings, through increased user fees based on the provision of improved Air Traffic Services as recognized by IATA and ICAO.

  • Customers may purchase hardware and software upgrades and enhancements. Obsolescence becomes a thing of the past.

  • Standards Based

    • ICAO, IEEE, RTCA

    • Industry commercial-of-the-shelf mainstream products

Free Flight Capable:

Atom™ is designed to meet the requirements of CNS/ATM and Free Flight well into the next century. Atom™’s features include:

  • Four-dimensional airspaces with unrestricted topologies.

  • Earth-centered coordinate system.

  • Continuous four dimensional conflict prediction and resolution aids.

  • Ground-to-ground and CPDLC two-way data link.

Reliability and Security:

  • High performance

  • Low acquisition cost

  • Low total cost of ownership

    • PC based

    • Easy training support and maintenance

  • Built-in redundancy

    • Atom™ protects against system failure by numerous techniques including use of RAID disks in all workstations.

    • Removable hard drives are provided so software and data can be quickly and easily replaced.

  • The system protects against unauthorized access and messages by using password-protected login procedures.
