Aeronautical Information Office (AIS) / Flight Service Station (FSS)

Atom™, through its powerful Flight Data Processing capabilities, assists the AIS/FSS office with flight data management tasks to improve flight data accuracy and completeness both for controller use and for pilot flight plan filing. By building on the Advanced Flight Data Management (FDM) functions, Atom™ provides the following additional features to the AIS/FSS office:

• Extensive logic checking of entered flight data including route of flight, so errors are caught at flight plan entry time and not propagated locally or internationally.

• Data entered locally is saved in a flight database and is shared by all local workstations and transmitted via AFTN.

• Automatic generation of ICAO messages from the data in the current flight database with automatic AFTN addressing based upon route of flight.

• User-configurable auto-correction of common errors in received AFTN messages to reduce workload and improve accuracy and timeliness of flight data.

• Easy entry of flight manifest, auxiliary billing and statistical information (e.g., cargo and passenger counts).

• Produces statistical reports for airport & airspace utilization.

• Repetitive Flight Plan (RPL) management & automatic generation and transmission of FPLs over AFTN.

• Supplementary flight plan (SPL) reception and generation.

• Interface to real-time airport and airspace billing for online pre-departure billing status.

• NOTAM reception and creation and NOTAM look-up for pilot briefing using advanced NOTAM_Bene functionality that instantly maps airspace structure found in NOTAMs text to a on-line map.

• Entry and update of databases including airways, fixes, airspace, aircraft, airlines, airports.

Interfaces to other systems:

Interface to AFTN for sending and receiving ICAO messages/

Interface to Tower Control, Approach Control, ACC, Oceanic ACC.
