Flight Strip Printing
Atom™ was built with the knowledge that paper flight strips are still heavily used by controllers all over the world and remain one of the most important tools for control. With a worldwide market for Atom™, and with the knowledge that strips are different formats and colors in each facility in each State, Atom™ was designed to be easily adapted to allow any customer to use their own formats and colors.
Atom™ was designed to have user-defined, configurable strip formats, so that one flight plan entering an airspace can print in different formats and colors in the Tower, Approach Control and Area Control Center. To date, Atom™ has printed millions of easy-to-read strips in many formats.
Flight strips can be easily configured to support a large variety of 'strip printing rules' and formats. To make this possible, Atom™ provides a pool of flight information fields typically used when writing flight strips. The system is tailored to the specific needs of the end user by writing a straightforward configuration file where the position of the fields and all other attributes are specified. See some examples of possible formats.
Atom™ uses user-adaptable timers to print strips in advance so strips can be ready at departure or coordination time
The Atom™ advantage:
Atom™ adapts to the ATC operation rather than forcing the ATC operation to adapt to it. Atom™ mirrors your operation - there is no need to adapt your operation to Atom™.
