Situation Display
The situation display provides the air traffic controller or planner with a graphical view of the air traffic situation along with airspace structures such as FIR and sector boundaries, airways, fixes, navaids, and airports. The air traffic position information can be based on
flight intent from position-updated flight plan information and optionally,
surveillance inputs such as radar or Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS). It is also possible to use the same position-updated flight intent information as to “look ahead” in time for planning and traffic management purposes.
The situation display can utilize flight plan-based trajectories from the Flight Data Manager function and blends this information with normalized position reports generated by any source of position information. The situation display can be used for display of:
